ABOUT ME

ABOUT ME
My name is Craig Brown. I'm an experienced and well-connected independent educational consultant based out of Vancouver Island, in British Columbia.
I have dedicated my career to working in education. With many years working as a Guidance Counsellor in high schools, and a breadth of experience working in university recruitment, admissions, and leadership, I offer a well-rounded perspective to education.
Commitment
The pride on the face of a student who has been accepted to their perfect-fit school... there's nothing like it. I was hooked to this line of work from the moment I started working with students.
With a decade of guidance counselling experience, I'm passionate about helping students to discover the world of options available, assisting them in learning about themselves and their goals, supporting them as they make informed decisions, and watching them confidently embark on their post-secondary journey.
As a student at a large, public high school, there wasn't much specialized attention available to me when I was choosing my path. I don't begrudge them that, but it does make me wonder what it might have been like had I had someone professional in my corner, supporting me through such an important stage of my life.
I'm committed to making this post-secondary selection process a success for your student and your family. After all, I imagine we have the same goals: students who are fulfilled, challenged, and prepared to tackle their future.
Experience & Connections
After working at universities in various admissions and recruitment roles for 12 years, I moved to the "other side of the desk" to Guidance Counsellor roles at high schools. My background in Guidance Counselling includes three years at the International School of Brussels in Belgium and six years as the Director of University Guidance for Shawnigan Lake School on Vancouver Island, Canada. I've worked with students from a diverse range of cultural, economic and social backgrounds, and students with every imaginable area of interest, and have enjoyed seeing my students successfully admitted to their dream schools in Canada, the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia.

Maintaining a strong international network of colleagues in admissions and guidance allows me to stay on top of the the latest information on university admissions. Over my career, I have had the privilege of presenting at various industry conferences, and have visited an incredible variety of post-secondary institutionsaround the world.

Outlook
In these positions I worked with students from all backgrounds, with a mix of interests and outlooks. I learned to ask the best questions that help students identify what they want to get out of their post-secondary experience and how best to approach these goals. I have worked with students applying to schools across Canada, the United States, Europe and Australia. I have also worked with students to find scholarships and program opportunities that they were unaware of.
I look forward to working with you and helping you find options that best connect with your plans.
